Succumb - Succumb (2017)

•  †  •

Succumb's self-titled debut is as predictable and frantic as a schizophrenic wolverine fucked up on rabies, it's musical backbone mostly comprised of whirring grind with fragments of death, black, crust, d-beat and all else unsophisticated and crude. I'm taken to the vocals, I'm not sure it's anything I've heard before, so there is that unique grab to it, mostly sounding like someone howling desperately for help from the bottom of a well.

  1. Hot damn, it's been too long since I visited. This tickles my fancy. Now I have to scroll through a bunch of backlog here, since I haven't fooled with music in ages. Also, Merry Christmas, heathen!

    1. John, I've often thought about your absence and felt abandoned, cold and alone, but alas, here you are, thanks for coming in, look around a while, warm your soul with some frigid Norwegian riffs and stick around.

What 2017 albums floated your boat last year? Cough it up

    2. Well, there wasn't a ton that grabbed my attention, but that's because I was too busy diving down conspiracy theory rabbitholes, watching old sci-fi flicks, and reading. Not to mention all the podcasts. Podcasts are my crack now. But here are a few albums I did enjoy, I'll probably find a lot more as I dig into the hilarious crapstorm that was 2017.
      Ruin - Drown in Blood
      Heresiarch - Death Ordinance
      Demonic Death Judge - Seaweed
      Droid - Terrestrial Mutations
Khthoniik Cerviiks / Howls of Ebb - With Gangrene Edges / Voiidwarp
Suffering Hour - In Passing Ascension
Drug Honkey - Cloak of Skies
      Condor - Unstoppable Power
The Flight of Sleipnir - Skadi
Abigor / Nightbringer / Thy Darkened Shade / Mortuus - Split

    1. My origin story started off similarly; That's a good Coffinworm album to have. Everyone should have it. Stick around, stay a while, the SHOM crypt will take you in and feed you sonic armageddon.

  3. The Flood is amazing. I love this album. It sounds like Bolt Thrower, Overmars, a banshee and a PCP fueled werewolf having an orgy in a dilapidated haunted house surrounded by graveyards. Fantastic find, my man.
